Butterfly Valves

A butterfly valve regulates or halts the flow of a fluid using a rotating disk. The disk is positioned in the centre of the pipe and a rod extends through the disk on out of the value to a handle. Rotating the handle turns the disk to open and close the valve. As the disk is always present, it will cause a pressure drop due to friction on the disk.
