Rockwell Automation 440F Safedge Controller, DIN mount

Complete your Safedge System with the Safedge Control Unit and provide superior protection for personnel in hazardous areas. This device works as part of the touch sensing safety system, which is designed to prevent injury to personnel by detecting pressure on the safety profile that is secured to the dangerous area or object.

The controller monitors the circuit via the profile and when normal run conditions are detected it sends a signal to the machine control circuit. When the profile is pressed from any direction through 90° this causes the top conductive rubber strip to compress, which then touches the middle conductive rubber. This creates a “short circuit” which reduces the overall resistance. The controller checks for this and commences the machine shutdown. It also detects any faults in the profile or the wiring connections to the profile and will change the control unit outputs to a safe (OFF) state.

With a complete Safedge system all corner and straight connectors are "active" components, to ensure that there are no "dead" zones. This device is EC type approved when Safedge profiles are used with the Safedge Command Unit.
