Eaton Motor Protection Circuit Breaker - PKZM4 Series
Eaton's reliable and robust motor protection circuit breakers are the perfect solution for your motor protection needs, providing protection from electrical faults such as an overload of high voltages, short circuits or relay shutdowns. Two motor protection circuit breakers cover the entire PKZ series ranging from 0.1 A to 63 A, storage and space are reduced for simplified engineering with 18 different types.
Eaton's PKZM4 motor protection range of circuit breakers has been created and designed to act as an intermediary between your devices, protecting vital equipment in the event of unforeseen incidents. This reduces the amount of downtime of machinery to enable operations to continue running smoothly.
The PKZM4 series are manually actuated circuit breakers featuring a breaking capacity of up to 50kA that make current limiters become almost unnecessary. This motor protection range of circuit breakers has a short circuit breaking capacity rated to 150 kA up to 12 A and 50kA up to 32 A. Accessories including auxiliary contacts, trip indicating auxiliary contacts, voltage release and shunt trips can be installed without tools and greatly reduce installation time.
The PKZM4 motor protection circuit breakers have been specifically designed for electrical and mechanical compatibility to the DIL contactor series, making them ideal for the configuration of motor starter combinations.
Features and Benefits
Manually-actuated motor protective circuit breaker
Has a rotary knob for switching on or off, which gives a clear indication of the breaker status
DIN-rail mounting
Higher switching current: 50kA @ either 230Vac or 400Vac without the need for an upstream current limiter
Type 1 and 2 co-ordination 55mm width
The short-circuit release is permanently set to 14 x In; the bi-metal release is set to the relevant full load motor current
Forms part of the xStart family of control gear products
Rated operating voltage 690 V ac
Larger frame size than the PKZM0, but shares the same accessories – Shunt release 492-1709 & 492-1715, lockable rotary handle 244-0113
What is a motor protection circuit breaker?
Electric motors need protection from phase unbalances, current overload and losses, circuit breakers or MPCBs offer motor protection and prevent short circuits by disconnecting the current. Thermal protection guards against overload, magnetic protection protects against short circuits and faults and phase protection guards against phase loss or imbalance. MCPs or motor circuit protectors only protect against short circuits and generally need an overload relay installing, whereas an MPCB doesn't usually need an overload relay offering magnetic protection and preventing thermal overload. MCPBs can also be integrated into a unit with other devices.
