ABB Orion3 Light Grids
The Orion3 light grids from ABB combine both the transmitter and receiver in a single unit, called the active unit. The beams are then reflected using a mirror called the passive unit, which reduces cabling because it is not connected. The Orion3 is available in two options, a base model and an extended model.
Features and Benefits
No more functions or settings than necessary
A local reset button can be connected directly to the light grid: no need for cable between the reset button and the electrical cabinet or for an extra control module
Each light grid can monitor the actuators without any extra control module (EDM function)
Less cabling because only the active unit is connected
Alignment help and a wide angle within the limits of a Type 4 device facilitate alignment
Rotation brackets simplify alignment too
M12 connectors speed up cabling
Since the alignment level is displayed on the unit, the alignment can be improved before an unwanted stop occurs
Extensive error indication reduces troubleshooting time
Muting sensors are connected directly to the extended model, with no need for a remote muting module
