PSM Interface Converter RS232/RS422

From Phoneix Contact, the DIN-Rail mounted PSM-EG-RS232/RS422-P/4K Interface converter is designed to convert RS232 interface signals bi-directionally into the error-free and efficient RS-422 standard. The RS-422 interface is a balanced-to ground interface for point-to-point connections. The logical states are represented by a differential voltage between two cables.

Featuring diagnostic and status indicator LEDs for RS232 data reception and transmission. The PSM-ME-PSM-EG-RS232/RS422-P/4K signal converter offers the user the flexibility to meet the many demands of today’s industrial applications.

Features and Benefits

• RS-422 4-wire point-to-point operation
• Transmission speed of up to 64 kbps
• High-quality 3-way isolation between power supply, RS-232, and RS-422
• Integrated surge protection with transient discharge to the DIN rail
• Data cables can be connected via D-SUB plugs or plug-in screw terminal blocks

Method of Operation

Cable connection can be made with either serial D-SUB connectors or via 8-pin screw connections. The RS232 interface features a 9 position male D-SUB or 8 screw terminals that can be connected using a Phoneix Contact COMBICON connector. The RS422 interface features a 15 position male D-SUB or 8 screw terminals that can be connected using a Phoneix Contact COMBICON connector.

The PSM-EG-RS232/RS422-P/4K signal conditioners are configurable via slide switches accessed via opening a panel on top of the housing. Switch S1 is used to cross the TxD and RxD connection and the RTS and CTS connection internally, allowing the adaptation to be carried out conveniently.
